# Bot Setup Overview

Here is an overview of the bit setup process

## Setting up the bot

The first step to get setup is to create the telegram chats you will need. We recommend creating a new chat because the bot needs to be added BEFORE members. See "[The Purge](/docs/the-purge.md)" for more info.

We also recommend that you **use the Telegram app** and **DO NOT use the web browser version when creating a gate**.

The next 3 docs will cover creating your chat(s)

1. [**Create the gated chat (chat to protect)**](/docs/bot-setup/create-gated-chat-s.md)
2. [**Create the entry channel (where uses enter)**](/docs/bot-setup/create-entry-channel.md)
3. [**Setup bot permissions**](/docs/bot-setup/setup-bot-permissions.md)

Once you have created your telegram chats you we will proceed to the [**"Gate Creation"**](/docs/gate-creation/gate-creation-overview.md) docs.\

IF you are familiar with telegram bots already here is all the the complete process in 3 easy steps.

#### **Quick Guide Steps for Advanced Users:**

1. Create a **"Gated Chat(s)"** to protect and a **"Entry Channel"** members can use to join.
2. Add [**@tg\_token\_gates\_bot**](https://t.me/tg_token_gates_bot) to all chats as an admin.
3. **DM the bot /setup** to define the rules

Let's walk through each step one at a time starting with creating your gated chat(s).
